... This magnificent edifice was the brainchild of Rev. Fr. Rosati, and upon completion, was declared opened in 1957 (if my memory serves me right)by the then Governor General of Ceylon Rt. Hon. Oliver Goonetilleke and I had the privilege of receiving the Std 4 Tamil Medium General Proficiency Prize at the First Prize Giving that was held in this hall, from the then Minister of Education Hon. W. Dahanayake (better and fondly known as bunnis maama) Anton James (1953-1965) |

... How times have gone by... Memories are still fresh in my mind of the college hall. Monday morning assemblies when in upper school, Tuesday morning assemblies when in low school. Many of those movies shown in this college hall, the ticket was only 25 cents if I remember. I received prizes from grade 2 until grade 8 in this very hall every year. I still remember seats, the balcony and the sides. Rev. Fr. Stephen Abraham was the principal at that time. The unfortunate event that shocked the nation in'83 made my family move to India. Now I live in the USA. But the 8 years I spent in this esteemed college will always stay fresh in my mind. My brother studied here from grade 1 - 11, myself grade 1 - 8. During '83 riots mu family took shelter in the upper school class rooms for a week. This school such an integral part of my life. I look forward to visiting the college one day again. I was a boarding school student for 4 years. Nice memories.... Does any one have any images of the rest of the school? Dormitories and the Lodge? |
