Annual Prize Giving 2009 held
St. Anthony’s College, Kandy celebrated the most prestigious occasion with the Annual Prize Giving 2009 on the 1st of July 2010 at the College Auditorium. His Lordship the Chief Justice Hon Joseph Asoka Nihal de Silva, the 32nd Chief Justice in Sri Lanka - a distinguished member of the Antonian Alumni, graced the occasion as the chief guest accompanied by Madam Ramani De Silva. He is the 2nd Antonian to rise up the pinnacle of the judiciary.
The Principal of the College Rev. Fr. B.K. Titus H. Rodrigo (O.S.B.) read the Prize day report followed by an interesting speech by the Chief Guest. He mentioned the importance of discipline and commended the high standard of the discipline of the college and how necessary for the students to maintain it. He also mentioned that he never became the first in the class and appealed to every student to work hard as he has done to reach the highest levels. Madam Ramani De Silva presented the awards to the prize winners and the special awards were presented by the Chief Guest His Lordship the Chief Justice Hon Asoka N. De Silva.
The most coveted award of our hollowed institution the Rt. Rev Bishop Bede memorial prize to the Best All Round Student donated by the Parent Body of the Old Boys’ Association was awarded to Master Ravindu Peris. The Rev. Fr. Rosati memorial prize for the most courteous student, donated by the Benedictine Fathers’ Hostel was awarded to Master Suchith Dilshan Jinasena. A special prize for the dedicated service rendered by the Head Prefect of the year donated by past Head Prefect Mr. Siyanga Rathnayake was awarded to Suchith Dilshan Jinasena. This prize was introduced this year.
